Some of you have already seen the pictures of the 458 GT2 "Tequila Patron".
Here is the beginning of that story: The Build of............!
I wanted to build one of these two:
....ehh....., no, not these two..........
....yes, these two, but without racingnumbers, because I only liked the livery of the car.
Decals are coming from "Decal Doc"
These are not easy to do, you must cut them precisely by yourself.
And the model is of course a 458 GT2 from HWE.
First we paint the whole body "Kermit"-green.
Decal Doc has make his own paint-molds:
So I did what Decal Doc said and afterwards I painted the whole body black.
I don't know what went wrong, but the only thing I could rip of was my own masking tape, but not the paint-molds.
So I had to start all over again with painting the body green.
Then I have made my own molds from masking-tape on glass.
I used for this the back of the original decals.
This was so much better.
Now is coming the difficult part: to place the decals precisely on the body.
You can see at the last picture, that the decals are totally sh.t.!
I had to repaint all the black parts in the decals by hand.
After drying it was time for a few clearcoats:
Polishing time!
Then I had a problem, I wanted to paint a part of the windscreen green.
But there were a few cracks in it, so I had to find a solution.
I painted a piece of adhesive foil green.
Place a decal on it and give it a few layers of clearcoat.
I had to do this very fast, because I was afraid that the paint will crack.
Now it was still flexible to place it on the windscreen.
I put carbon-decals on the front- and rearspoiler and finished it with clearcoat.
No problems with building up the model again and suddenly it's finished.
Thanks for watching!

You catch my attention in the first picture...
The development step by step is quite interesting with honesty to show errors and difficulties.
Certainly a very difficult work but in the end a very interesting model.
Congratulations, John.

Thank you my friends!
It was a difficult job, because I think, that Decal Doc has made these decals in 1:32 at first. (slot-cars)
Afterwards he has scaled them up to 1:24 and 1:18.
That is why the molds and decals were not always fitting on the right places.
You had to make a lot of corrections with the possibility to break the decals.
And he used a very strange sort of decals, witch I have never placed before.
But at the end, I was happy with the result.

It's beautiful Patrick!
So you want a second one.
I've seen one with American flag/flame in 1:43.
